Accessibility
It's very important that everyone can use your website. KWS design sites to that they meet the World Wide Web Consortium Accessibility Guidelines. This means that people with disabilities can access your information as easily as everyone else.
For example some people use:
- screen readers to read out the text on web pages to them
- different devices to use links
- screen magnifiers to make the text bigger
- high contrast style sheets
It isn't necessarily more expensive to make a new website accessible, as long as it is planned in from the start. In fact, some web design companies encourage their customers to pay a lot of money for expensive Flash animations that can make it more difficult for some people to use. About 10% of the population are affected by the design of web pages. If information is published on your website that is available to able bodied people that isn't available for disabled people you not only exclude these people, but can also fall foul of the law.
